Inka Gersch

Since October 2014 Dipl. Reg.-Wiss. Inka Gersch is employed as Research Associate in the Working Group on Economic Geography at the University of Osnabrück.
She studied Regional Sciences with an emphasis on economics at the University of Cologne/Gemany and the Universidad de Guadalajara/Mexico and received her diploma in 2014.
During her studies she worked at the German Development Institute (DIE) and the Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft (DEG).
Her thesis on contract farming models in Peru as an instrument of integrating farmers into Global Production Networks was funded by the Fiat Panis Foundation.
During a DAAD funded research stay at the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University in South India she subsequently investigated the social and economic impacts of different marketing strategies in rural areas.
Currently, she is doing her doctorate on the dynamics in emerging markets' agri food networks in the context of retail internationalization, investigating the upgrading processes of retailers and fresh food suppliers in Turkey.
Before starting to work at the University of Osnabrück she was a Research Assistant at the Institute of Economic- and Social Geography of the University of Cologne/Germany.
