As research associate of the Institute of Geography at Osnabrück University Jana Rülke is specialized in economic geography.
Being part of the research project Value chains and consumer decisions – remote effects of governance and product biographies using cocoa as an example also allows her to do her doctoral studies under the supervision of Martin Franz.
During her studies and long-term stays on the African continent, she has already dealt with smallholder agriculture, rural and unequal development and local complexity. Her main interest lies in the relationships between human societies and the environment. At its core, it all is about ensuring sustainable development and a dignified coexistence of human and non-human life. As part of the project, Jana Rülke will deepen the analysis of the relationships of humans and the environment as well as of global production networks, in which cocoa is a flowing significant.
